Description
The AI Act proposal was published on April 21 st 2021, with the goal of creating harmonised rules on artificial intelligence to foster innovation and make the EU a forerunner in AI regulation. It sets a number of requirements for AI systems based on their level of risk, but a few challenges still remain, as illustrated by the ongoing discussions around the final version, which is expected for early 2023. These requirements include human oversight, which implies including a ‘human in the loop’ upstream (design) and downstream (after placing on the market), and does not specify any methodology, which will be a challenge for providers and users.
